Welcome To The McLeod
The McLeod is a new blog where we talk about politics, true crime, trains, and the random stuff that sits in the spaces between them.
It is not a single-niche site. One week might examine a political story through the lens of incentives and outcomes. The next might unpack a true-crime case with attention to the timeline, the evidence, and the gaps. Another might dig into rail networks, stations, rolling stock, or the quieter infrastructure that moves people and goods. And sometimes the post will simply follow a thread that does not fit neatly into any of those boxes.
The through-line is straightforward: clear writing, no filter, and a tolerance for mild chaos. The goal is not to perform outrage or chase every headline. It is to look at the subject in front of us, say what is interesting or incomplete about it, and move on without pretending the world is tidy.
Readers can expect:
Politics discussed as systems, incentives, and consequences rather than team sports.
True crime treated as case studies in evidence, behavior, and institutional response not as entertainment for its own sake.
Trains and rail topics approached with the same seriousness (or the same curiosity) as the other subjects.
Occasional posts that connect these areas or simply wander into whatever else is worth examining.
There is no editorial calendar that forces every piece into a predetermined slot. The only consistent rule is that the writing should be direct and the claims should be checkable.
If that mix of politics, true crime, trains, and the in-between is useful to you, the archive will grow from here. The first posts are already taking shape.
See you in the next one.
